The Forum’s Christmas Get Together was a chance for friends and members from all over Yorkshire and the Humber to meet up informally.
There were lots of interesting conversations – many around the worrying low uptake of cancer screening programmes in the region. We were told that in Crete, where the national breast screening programme is offered through GPs, there is a huge uptake of 90%. We felt we need to be much more open about the importance of screening – to catch a cancer early means there is a better chance of treatment and cure.

As a Forum we pledge to support raising awareness. As individuals we can play our part in helping to encourage our friends, families and colleagues to attend for screening. If you haven’t been called for screening checks by your GP check they hold your up to date contact information.
