Some useful advice from Bradford and Craven here about the role of Care Navigators, which applies to any area.
When you call your local GP practice to book an appointment, you may notice the reception team will ask you for a brief outline of how they can help. This is to ensure you receive the right care more quickly. Anything shared will be kept strictly confidential. By working in this way, it helps to free up time for GPs to care for patients with complex or serious health conditions that can only be managed by a doctor. Other patients may be directed to another professional within the team. The choice is always yours though. It is completely up to you if you want to share information with your GP Practice reception team.
